Danube Artists Ensemble

Founded in 1957, the Danube Art Ensemble consists of a 26-piece dance troupe and a 6-piece folk band, made up of professional folk dancers and instrumentalists.

The Danube Art Ensemble's main goal is to arouse interest in folk dance among a wide range of audiences, to break down stereotypes about the genre and to make the audience aware of its diversity and artistic expressiveness. They believe that folk dance is extremely suitable for expressing emotions and values, and even for performing complex stories. Accordingly, the troupe strives for an authentic, open and attention-grabbing interpretation of the Hungarian folk dance tradition, and its productions are characterised by the preservation of tradition and artistic experimentation.

The Göncöl Orchestra, which accompanies the ensemble, also gives independent concerts, mainly based on authentic folk music.
