“Fire and Lights”

Fireworks will be displayed along the stretch from Margaret Bridge to Petőfi Bridge, while the Parliament Building, the National Gallery and Gellért Hill will get night projection. The programme is complemented by a special two-part drone show, as well as a light and laser show.

The concept of this year’s programme once again summarises the history of our nation from ancient times, from the new perspective of how, thanks to the work of St. Stephen, the pagan Hungarian land was transformed into a Christian European state, the Kingdom of Mary. Before his death, King Stephen placed his country into the hands of the Virgin Mary, who, according to church tradition, has been the patron saint of Hungarians ever since.
