Folk music concert with a song learning session and instrument demonstration by the Korinda Band

Korinda Band aims to provide an authentic interpretation of the traditional folk music of the ethnic groups living in the eastern parts of the Hungarian-speaking region. Its founders learned the basics of their musical knowledge from the members of the Mentés Másként Band in Szeged's folk music scene, as well as from their Moldavian recorder master András Hodorog, which played a decisive role in the creation of Korinda's individual soundscape. They strive for simplicity and clarity in playing the music learned from original recordings and directly from the informants, but at the same time they are constantly looking for opportunities for their own interpretations and unique performances.

Although Moldavian Csángó folk music is the main direction for the band, the Hungarian and Romanian folk music of Gyimes, Barcaság, Székelyföld, and Bukovina is also part of their repertoire. They regularly go to Moldova and Transylvania to collect, as they consider it important to develop and nurture a personal relationship with old musicians who are still alive.
