Heroes’ Path - The history of seven momentous decisions

On August 19 and 20, we can step into a time machine in the Castle District! In seven historical scenes, amateur traditionalists and actors present situations in which a person unexpectedly became a hero. Viewers can experience how a brave word or bold act can influence the future and history of the country in addition to the personal fate of the d

The seven historical scenes encompass the most significant events of Hungary’s history from 1038, the founding of the Christian state by King Stephen, highlighting the importance of individual courage and decision-making. We can witness the tactical diplomatic decision of our first Hungarian king, which decided the fate of Hungary for a thousand years. We can see up close St. László's self-sacrificing fight to save a common-law girl, and then we can experience how János Hunyadi stopped the Turks through his good grasp of the situation. From Eger Castle, we can see the fight against the Turks in 1552 to better understand the courage of the Eger women. We can conspire together with Kossuth's emissary in 1848 so that our hussars stationed abroad can escape home and fight in the War of Independence. We can see the battle from the First World War, which changed the course of history thanks to the self-sacrifice of a brave officer, and from 1943 we can experience the escape of a handful of soldiers of the Hungarian 2nd Army which was decimated on the Don River - all performed by amateur traditionalist groups, with actor's commentaries explaining the scenes and giving them a historical framework, in a playful, interactive form.
