PARONIM / Petőfi Kultplusz - OliverFromEarth & Heincz Gábor Biga's pop music and literary concert

In how many forms does a poem, a word, a thought exist in us? How do we relate to our literary traditions, how is a classic poem integrated into our lives and work? And how are our own compositions born?

2023 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Sándor Petőfi, and on this occasion we will celebrate the life’s work of one of the most significant Hungarian poets of all time, both within and beyond our borders with the Petőfi Bicentenary. This has brought to life the PARONIM / Petőfi Kultplusz performance, a production organised by the Petőfi Cultural Agency, to celebrate this occasion, using the tools of pop music to present the influence of the poets of classical times, especially the visionary poet born 200 years ago, on the work of contemporary artists.

The performance will take a closer look at the creation, the literary inspirations behind the lyrics and the birth of the song, as well as the poems that inspired the musician, as performed by two popular musicians.

OliverFromEarth was founded in 2016. Oliver Patocska, the frontman of the boy band ByTheWay, who is also active as a producer and actor, is the writer of his own songs but writes songs for other well-known performers as well, and is a literature enthusiast. OliverFromEarth's best known compositions include the Budapest Dal 2019 special award winner “A világ az enyém ft. BLR” (The World is Mine ft. BLR), “Lemegy az égről a nap” (The Sun Is Setting) and “Lófejű” (Horsehead); their new album Ex/Position will be released in September. In January 2023, Olivér Patocska started working with Anna Juhász and the Petőfi Cultural Agency (PKÜ) on Petőfi poem arrangements for the Adom a dalod Petőfi TV show, and since then his work has paid off, and the material for an album has slowly been collected and will be presented in the production.

Gábor Biga Heincz, singer, performer, multiple Hungarian finalist of the Eurovision Song Contest, is one of the best known performers in Hungary, and also a creative partner of many Hungarian artists and bands. For the Petőfi Felhő competition, Biga has set to music 5 poems by the poet born 200 years ago, which will be performed in the programme.
