QJÚB – unfolding the cube – literary concert theatre

Miklós H. Vecsei and his team have created their latest literary concert theatre performance A kocka kibontása (Unfolding the Cube), based on the works of János Pilinszky and Sándor Csoóri, in the live, projected set of Kiégő Izzók (Glowing Bulbs) with an installation by Dorottya Szonja Koltay.

Each member of the team is a renowned artist in their own field, working at the interface of theatre, music, literature and performance. In the performance, the elements of the visual world, musical complexity and light art were applied to the works of Sándor Csoóri and János Pilinszky in the most cathartic form possible, so that the life's work of the two poets would not be remembered merely in words. In its complexity, the performance offers an exceptional cultural delicacy, showing through the distant poetry and essays of Sándor Csoóri and János Pilinszky how literary tradition can be made alive, deeply topical and “consumable” through modern artistic means.
