Storytellers and craftsmen from the House of Traditions in the Multiroom

The folk tale is a genre of oral epic folklore, which is generally characterised by, in terms of format: round, complete and logical story, in terms of content: a characteristic fairy-tale world with a mixture of everyday and miraculous elements, and aesthetically by the artistic use of language and the use of specific linguistic-stylistic devices, such as fairy-tale idioms.

The performers are storytellers; their particular style of performance is "folk storytelling", which is still present in traces of Hungarian folklore, and is not identical with prose storytelling. The texts of famous women and men storytellers, their performative personalities and the tradition of storytelling have been researched and described by ethnographers; some of them have even been awarded the State Prize for the Master of Folk Art.
