World Athletics Championship 2023

On 19 August, the biggest sporting event in Hungary's history, the World Athletics Championships will begin in Budapest.

It's worth keeping an eye on the World Championship’s schedule, as there are 35-40 athletes representing the red, white and green colours, so there will almost always be someone to cheer for. The fan zone, where you can follow the World Championship live and cheer on the Hungarians, will be set up in the middle of the Saint Stephen's Day venues in Erzsébet square. This will give you a good opportunity to follow the events of the World Championship, even in conjunction with the Saint Stephen's Day programmes.

It is particularly exciting that on 20 August Bence Halász may be the first Hungarian to become world champion in front of a home crowd, and with the 100m-sprint final starting shortly before the fireworks, we hope this year's celebrations will be more joyous than ever.

Let's celebrate Hungary's birthday and cheer on Hungary's sporting successes together!
